In the crowded Southern California DJ scene, a lot of obstacles can stand in the way of making a name for yourself and standing out from the rest. One DJ has not let any of these roadblocks slow him down, and at the age of 21 is already well on his way to becoming one of the best in the turntablism game.

Born and raised in San Diego, DJ AROCK has been refining his craft since the age of 12. Influenced by the likes of DJ Q-Bert, DJ A-Trak, DJ AM, DJ Rectangle, DJ Vice and DJ Skee, AROCK absorbed all the inspiration and crafted his own unique take on DJ'ing and mixtapes. But inspiration means nothing without action. Immersing himself in the music, AROCK soon forged his skills at editing and mixing and built his arsenal of DJ'ing equipment.

At 20, AROCK joined the team at San Diego's Z90.3, where he still remains a prominent DJ and the youngest member of the team. He can be found spinning hip hop and rocking the crowds at various venues in San Diego and Mexico, such as Red Circle, Decos, Airport Lounge, Jade Theatre, Belo, Club Glam, Carribe, Dolce Lounge, Static Lounge, Hennesy's, Mystere, and Baby Rock.

DJ'ing is not just a hobby for AROCK — it's his life. He is constantly upping his game and taking his skills to the next level. A vigorous promoter, AROCK initially began making a name for himself through his series of mixtapes that were marketed throughout Southern California. Other DJ's started to take notice of the new kid on the block, and in no time at all, AROCK was producing some of the hottest mixtapes in town. He continues to build upon that success, working with top designers to come out with the best product possible.

The future is bright for DJ AROCK. In 2006, he formed the Globalwavez Digital Record Pool, which now has over 45 San Diego DJ's involved. Not just content with spinning records, AROCK now has his sights set on the business side of the game, and is ready to tackle bigger and better projects in the coming years. And at his age and his rate of success, the sky is truly the limit.
